Prayer Group at St. Luke's.
![]() To know God is the primary purpose of Prayer, a task which may seem daunting and unreachable to some of us. However, through prayer, we can come to know God, if we consciously open our minds and are receptive to his presence. Prayer that centres on God, rather than ourselves, not only encourages and gives us hope but also helps to keep our prayers positive. At St. Luke, there are many opportunities not only for prayer but for learning more about prayer and how we relate to our loving caring Creator. Here are some ways you might like to join us in prayer:
Prayer Chain This is a linked group of 8 to 10 people who have been commissioned to pray daily for people in the parish and their loved ones. Members of the Prayer Chain offer up their hearts as channels through which the healing love of God may flow to others.
Praying Together This monthly session provides an opportunity for the parish people to come together in an informal setting for a time of prayer. The primary focus of this time of fellowship is to offer up thanksgiving and prayer requests for our parish, our city and our world. Sessions are usually held the 3rd Monday of each month from 7:30 pm to 8:45 pm.
Keeping in Touch (K.I.T.) The purpose of this ministry is to reach out to people in the congregation who are ill, sut-in or in need of encouragement during a difficult time.
Alongsiders Ministry Alongsiders are parishioners who desire to participate in the prayer ministry of the church but who for various reasons such as physical disability, illness, age or who due to constraints of time or distance, are able to participate only in a limited way.
Book of Intercessions A book is located at the back of the church in which people may write their requests for prayer. The book is checked regularly and prayer is offered on behalf of each request.
Learning Opportunities Learning about prayer and how to pray in a more joyful and effective way is important in our growth as Christians. For this reason several events (workshops, discussions, etc) are held during the year.
One on One prayer Following the 10:30 am Sunday Service, one-on-one prayer support is provided in the chapel, for those who desire it.
